Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde has become the third managerial casualty of the 2025 season.
The Orioles confirmed Saturday that Hyde has been fired after the team’s 15-28 start. The move comes despite the Orioles' two consecutive playoff appearances.
Field coordinator Tim Cossins was also relieved of his duties, and the team announced that third base coach Tony Mansolino will take over as the Orioles’ interim manager.

Hyde was in his seventh season as the club’s manager. He oversaw a difficult rebuilding period, but the Orioles appeared to have turned the corner under his guidance. The team won 101 games and an AL East title in 2023, and won 91 more with an AL Wild Card bid last year. However, the team failed to win a playoff series on both occasions.
Hyde was 421-492 as Orioles manager, including this year’s 15-28 start. There were some questions about his job security after those early playoff exits, but there was no thought of firing him at that time.
The Orioles have struggled on all fronts this year, and their underwhelming offense is the biggest surprise. One could argue that the team was not set up well for 2025, as star players Anthony Santander and Corbin Burnes left in free agency. Burnes, in particular, was not adequately replaced, but Hyde is ultimately the one who will take the fall for the team’s performance.
