St. Louis Blues head coach Drew Bannister told media Thursday that defenseman Torey Krug is expected to miss Thursday’s game against the Ottawa Senators with a lower-body injury. Marco Scandella will draw into the lineup.

Krug has registered three goals and 31 assists for 34 points in 69 games this season while averaging 21:58 minutes of ice time. The 34 points surpasses Krug’s 2022-23 totals where he notched seven goals and 32 points in 63 games.

The 32-year-old missed time at the beginning of the season after sustaining a foot injury while training in the off-season, he ultimately returned to the lineup during the preseason.

Throughout his career, Krug has continually shown the ability to produce offensively from the back end. The Livonia, Michigan product is in his fourth season with the Blues organization after signing a monster seven-year, $45 million contract in October 2020. The contract holds an average annual value (AAV) of $6.5 million and runs through until the end of the 2026-27 season.

Krug was originally signed by the Boston Bruins in 2012 and spent the first nine seasons of his NHL career with the Bruins. The Royal Oak, Michigan product has posted 478 points in 770 career NHL regular-season games with the St. Louis Blues and Boston Bruins.

Meanwhile, Scandella draws into the lineup. The 34-year-old veteran defenseman has appeared in 59 games with the Blues this season, registering two goals and six assists for eight points.
