Tom Wilson already has a laundry list of suspensions in his NHL career. The 29-year-old has been suspended five times and fined three times since joining the league, once being suspended 20 games for an illegal check to the head of then-St. Louis Blues forward Oskar Sundqvist.

It looks like we will soon add a sixth suspension to that list. On Thursday, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced that the Washington Capitals forward has been offered an in-person hearing for high-sticking Toronto Maple Leafs’ forward Noah Gregor.

Since Wilson has been offered an in-person hearing, there’s a chance he could be suspended for five or more games. The Capitals are one point out of a playoff spot and need all the help they can get in their lineup, and the loss of Wilson for an extended period of time could cost them.

On Thursday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss the Wilson-Gregor incident and what to expect in terms of discipline.

Tyler Yaremchuk: I can’t quite wrap my head around why your stick would ever need to swing that way, I feel like he should get a game or two for this. Do you agree or disagree?

Frank Seravalli: I wholeheartedly agree, you have to be in control of your stick. For someone who has a long suspension history, what’s the excuse? It seems like retaliation and it looks like he’s looking for an official as if to say, “Maybe I shouldn’t have done that.”

Tyler Yaremchuk: And then for him to do the whole, “Hey are you okay?” thing to Gregor. You swung your stick near his head!
