Unnamed Boston Bruins player tested positive for coronavirus

This isn't necessarily great news for the Boston Bruins or the NHL, but things could be worse. The Bruins announced Friday that a player, who will remain unnamed, tested positive for the coronavirus.

Phase 2 of the NHL's return-to-play-plan requires all players to be tested for COVID-19 prior to using team facilities, and as a part of the process the B's found out about the positive test.

Although the player tested positive, he underwent two subsequent tests which both came back negative and the player remains asymptomatic.

The club also announced that all players who have returned thus far have now returned negative tests and noted they're providing this information to the public in order to be transparent during this time.

Linemates Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand were seen practicing at Warrior Ice Arena earlier in the week in an effort to prepare for the season resumption.

The Bruins will return to play as one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference and will play for seeding against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers. The league also announced this week that training camps can begin on July 10, which means games may be able to resume as early as August.
