Vegas GM says Marc-Andre Fleury reunion is 'not going to happen'

Vegas Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon didn't give rumors of a Marc-Andre Fleury trade any room to breathe and shot them down emphatically Tuesday.

Fleury, 37, was traded by the Golden Knights to the Chicago Blackhawks in July after four seasons with Vegas and just a month after he received the Vezina Trophy recognizing the NHL's best goalie. But with Vegas goalie Robin Lehner now out with an injury, Daily Faceoff reported the Golden Knights expressed interest in reuniting with Fleury.

Just a couple of hours later, McCrimmon said the report was nowhere close to true.

Fleury, who spent the first 13 years of his NHL career with the Pittsburgh Penguins, reportedly considered retirement after he was traded to the Blackhawks. But he joined Chicago and in December he became the third goalie in NHL history to reach 500 career wins.

While the Blackhawks have an 18-24-7 record this season, they are 16-17-3 in Fleury's 36 starts and 2-7-4 with any other player in goal.
