Wild trade Cam Talbot to Senators for fellow goaltender Filip Gustavsson
A great goalie can lead a team to the top of the NHL mountain, so having the right one in place is integral for teams looking to fight for the Stanley Cup.
It seems as if both the Minnesota Wild and Ottawa Senators found themselves feeling lacking in the goalie department this offseason, but as they say: A great goalie is in the eye of the beholder.
One team's trash heap can become another's treasure, and that's seemingly what happened when the Ottawa Senators and Minnesota Wild decided to work together to swap goalies.
Cam Talbot went 32-12-4 last season for Minnesota, with a 2.77 goals-against average and a save percentage of .911.
Last season, Filip Gustavsson went 5-12-1, with a 3.55 GAA and .892 save percentage.
Now that they've swapped teams, the Senators have secured themselves a 10-year pro while the Wild are taking a chance on a young up-and-comer.
