The Winnipeg Jets announced the reassignments of defenceman Dmitry Kuzmin, forward Mark Liwiski, and forward Carson Golder to the ECHL’s Norfolk Admirals from the Manitoba Moose. This move follows the Moose’s elimination from the 2024 AHL Calder Cup Playoffs. Additionally, goaltender Brett Brochu was released from his professional tryout agreement. Additionally, forward Axel Jonsson-Fjallby was recalled to the Winnipeg Jets following the Moose’s elimination.
The 21-year-old Kuzmin appeared in 18 AHL games for the Moose during the 2023-24 season. He posted three points (1G, 2A) which also included his first career AHL goal on the road against the Iowa Wild on March 10th. Kuzmin also posted nine points (2G, 7A) in his 24 ECHL games with Norfolk this season. Kuzmin was drafted in the third round (82nd overall) by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. From Kholstovo, Belarus, Kuzmin will be a great addition to bolster Norfolk’s roster as they look to make a deep run in the 2024 Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Liwiski, 22, played seven games for the Moose and recorded just one goal and assist. Liwiski scored his first career AHL goal at home on April 13th against the Iowa Wild. He also appeared in one playoff game for the Moose and tallied an assist. Liwiski spent the majority of his season with the Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL. He posted 25 points (11G, 14A) along with 310 penalty minutes in 54 games. Liwiski is native to Manitoba, hailing from Dauphin, MB. Throughout 121 ECHL games, he has played for the Wichita Thunder and the Norfolk Admirals. Liwiski’s presence as a power-forward/bruiser player will be welcomed back to the Admirals during their 2024 Kelly Cup Playoff run.
Golder, 21, appeared in 14 games for the Moose this season where he registered six points (2G, 4A) which also includes his first career AHL goal at home against the Toronto Marlies on March 29th. Golder’s goals for the Moose this season were both game-winning goals and provided the necessary depth for the team. Golder also posted 28 points (15G, 13A) in 32 games for Norfolk this season. Golder will look to find his scoring magic as he rejoins the Admirals during their 2024 Kelly Cup Playoff run.
The 21-year-old Brochu appeared in just one game for the Moose and made six stops in his 20 minutes of ice time against Texas on April 20th. Before signing his professional tryout agreement with the Moose, Brochu played in the ECHL as a member of the Fort Wayne Komets. Brochu posted a win-loss record of seven wins, 11 losses, and one overtime loss. Brochu was released from the professional tryout agreement following the Manitoba Moose being eliminated from the 2024 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Jonsson-Fjallby, 26, registered 30 points (12G, 18A) in 41 games with the Moose this season. Jonsson-Fjallby also appeared in both of Manitoba’s playoff games against Texas. In 197 career AHL games, he has posted 109 points (55G, 54A) split between the Hershey Bears and the Manitoba Moose. Jonsson-Fjallby also played 26 games for the Winnipeg Jets this season, producing five points (2G, 3A). He has 99 NHL games split between the Washington Capitals and the Winnipeg Jets where he’s recorded 23 points (10G, 13A) in that time. Additionally, Axel Jonsson-Fjallby will draw into the Jets game four lineup against the Colorado Avalanche for David Gustafsson.
