Tottenham right-back Djed Spence wants to permanently join Italian club Genoa in the summer.

The North London club are making plans to further bolster their squad in the upcoming summer transfer window. While the focus is on the kind of players they want to sign, they are also preparing for potential departures.

According to a report from Lavocerossoblu, Djed Spence ‘hopes’ to leave Tottenham in the summer.

Spence arrived at Spurs in the summer of 2022 after an impressive spell at Middlesbrough. The move to the North London club hasn’t really gone according to plan for the promising full-back. He has been subject to multiple loan moves since joining the club and has had very limited opportunities to play for his parent club.

He was sent out on loan to Leeds United before the start of the 2023/24 season. But, he didn’t really get enough opportunities to play for the Championship outfit and his loan deal was cut short in the winter. He ended up joining Genoa for the second half of the season.

Djed Spence wants Genoa move

The 23-year-old has already had more opportunities at Genoa than he did during the entire first half of the season. He seems to be thriving at the Italian club and wants to continue there.

Genoa Sporting Director Marco Ottolini desperately wants to keep the English full-back at the club beyond this summer. Talks with the North London club are ‘already underway’ to make the move permanent.

Spence feels Genoa is the best place for him to develop his game further. Meanwhile, the Italian club are willing to back him as they trust him to develop into an exceptional player.
