The rumours have begun about who Ralf Rangnick will want to bring to Manchester United.

We suspect the list will grow over the coming days, weeks and months – so let’s see over time who will be most realistic in the summer or maybe January if we’re lucky.

Amadou Haidara is the first name to be linked with a transfer to Manchester United since the appointment of Rangnick, which was made official on Monday morning after a week of non-stop speculation following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s dismissal.

According to the Mirror, as cited by The Independent, United are ready to meet the midfielder’s £33m release clause in the Mali international’s contract. The report suggests United are interested in making a move during the January transfer window.

We have yet to see what sort of system Rangnick will decide on with his United players, but we’re sure to see a lot more pressing.

The German will have a big influence on how the club moves forward in the next couple of years, so it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get the ball rolling in January to address some issues in the short-term to help the future manager.

Of course, there comes a risk with this. What if the next manager doesn’t rate any of the new signings? He will soon want his own signings and we’ll be stuck with more players who will be difficult to move on at a later date.

Rangnick overseen Haidara’s move from Red Bull Salzburg to RB Leipzig in January 2019 and it has now been reported that he wants to make him part of his new project in Manchester.

In 2019 Haidara told German newspaper Bild, as cited by Sport Witness: “I like Manchester United very much and watch as many games as possible. I dream of playing there.”

It will be interesting to see who United try to offload in January.
