The latest injury news surrounding Anthony Martial should come as a boost, but it feels like his days at Old Trafford are numbered and, as per usual, there are several question marks over how long he can still fit.

Martial has been out injured for over three months, missing yet another chunk of the season, but Thursday marked a return to full training following a 13-week lay-off.

Aged 28, Martial sadly looks like a player who will never be able to fulfil his promise. It remains to be seen where he will be playing next season since his contract at Old Trafford expires in the summer.

The French forward has made 19 appearances for United this season, managing just two goals. Erik ten Hag has been limited for options up front as a result, which has led to the manager becoming over-reliant on 21-year-old Rasmus Hojlund, who is still adjusting to life in the Premier League.

Jonny Evans returns

In better news, Martial was joined by Jonny Evans, who has been absent for three weeks.

United have suffered with an injury crisis all season and Evans has had to play more games than anyone expected when he re-joined the club on a Bosman last summer. Harry Maguire has been our only centre-back available in recent weeks, with Casemiro shoehorned into the role alongside him.

Monday night’s game against Crystal Palace may come too soon for Evans, though time will tell. Ten Hag will hold a press conference before United’s trip to Selhurst Park.
