Arsenal fans protest against owner Stan Kroenke for Super League fiasco

"Several hundred" Arsenal fans protested outside Emirates Stadium before the team's match against Everton on Friday to call for owner Stan Kroenke to leave the club over the bid to join the European Super League, according to the Associated Press.

Fans were seen banging metal screens above the main box office, lighting off flares and fireworks, and chanting, "We want Kroenke out," and, "We want our Arsenal back."

Fans have become increasingly frustrated after Arsenal and five other Premier League clubs announced they would join the breakaway European Super League last weekend. Arsenal pulled out of the Super League project and apologized to fans amid backlash, but that clearly has not helped.

Kroenke became an Arsenal shareholder in 2007 and became the majority shareholder in 2011. In 2018, he became the club's sole shareholder.

Although fans are calling for Kroenke to sell, Josh Kroenke, Stan's son, told Arsenal supporters that Kroenke Sports & Entertainment has no intention of selling the club during a fans forum on Thursday.
