Mikel Arteta has revealed that he wants Arsene Wenger to make a return to the Emirates and has held the discussion with the former Arsenal boss.
Wenger unceremoniously left the Emirates in 2018 after over two decades as Arsenal’s manager.
The Frenchman had been very successful in the first few years of his time at the club.
He also helped Arsenal move from Highbury to the Emirates, but fans weren’t happy with the final years of his stay at the club.
After the Gunners failed to make the top four at the end of the 2017/2018 season, he left.
However, Arsenal has still not made the top four since then, neither has Wenger returned to the club, even as a visitor.
The legendary Frenchman made Arteta the club’s captain in 2014. Now the Spaniard is the boss and says he’d love his former gaffer to come back in any capacity.
Arteta told a press conference via The Daily Mail: ‘Hopefully we can bring him close because I think he would have a great time just seeing the environment that he can create around him when he’s around this place, because of the respect, admiration and love that everybody at the club has for what he’s done and for what he represents as a person in this club.’

Wenger did a great job at this club, and he was emotionally attached to it.
It must have hurt him so badly to see the fans call for his removal. We cannot tell if he has healed from that episode.
If he hasn’t, it would be hard for him to visit the club again, and his current job at FIFA allows him to move on with his life.
Fans would never forget what he achieved at the club and hope another manager can win the Premier League for us soon.
