Atalanta may look to sign Lazio defender Luiz Felipe once they’ve sold Cristian Romero to Tottenham.

As reported by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio earlier today, the Bergamo based club are working hard to sell the 23-year-old Romero to Spurs soon, wanting to cash in on the Copa America winner.

Following this sale, Atalanta will look to replace him with a strong defender, with Juventus centre back Merih Demiral being the top target. The issue with the Turk, however, is his price tag and so they may turn their focus on Luiz Felipe instead.

The 24-year-old Luiz Felipe has one year left on his contract and currently a renewal isn’t guaranteed, meaning that he could leave for around €20 million plus add-ons this summer.

The Brazilian centre back would be happy to join a club competing in the Champions League and he could be yet another strong signing by Atalanta this summer.

Everything depends on the sale of Romero to Tottenham and also how the talks with Juventus for Demiral go, meaning Luiz Felipe’s future is now a little uncertain.
