Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone was delighted after their 3-1 win against Girona.

Antoine Griezmann scored twice on the day.

Simeone said: "He is the Atltico player, he is an Atltico with Griezmann. Everything he did made me very happy after the effort he made in the Champions League. I saw him looser, more like, we need him like this, he is the most important player we have.

"The other day Ancelotti explained it, winning is tranquility, no more than that because we are more exposed. The more years, the more responsibility. It is a moment of tranquility because they are very important points, we are four points behind Girona and we can fight them. And now Dortmund is around the corner."

He added, "I always believe that it is not the systems that matter but the ability to interpret them. Today it was difficult for us to interpret how we wanted at the beginning, they scored in the first but it is also true that with the subsequent positioning we recovered later, it suited us well and each footballer who joined generated energy for the team and we were able to extend the scoring situation in the second half."
