Barcelona have stepped up their interest in Xavi Simons over the last couple of weeks, having realised that it is increasingly likely that the Dutch international – who was formerly on their books – is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, most likely on another loan.

Simons is said to be very interested in a return to Barcelona, who are hoping to negotiate a financially-viable loan deal with PSG over the coming weeks. They consider this operation a priority, as reported by Sport . As a result, their interest in Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva has completely cooled, with efforts only focused on Simons.

Simons would be a fantastic addition to Xavi Hernandez’s squad, and there’s no doubt that Barcelona will hope to be able to sign him on a permanent basis in the coming years. For now, a loan is the only option, and they are confident of winning the race to get him for the 2024-25 campaign.
