The Englishman has fallen out of favor at Old Trafford and might be leaving the club in the summer.

Marcus Rashford was close to changing his shirt in January. The English striker, at odds with his club and with the clear idea of leaving Old Trafford as soon as possible, made a move and knocked on Barça’s door. The operation did not materialise then, but from that moment on, everything was open. Now that the season is coming to an end, the signs are becoming evident again. Rashford has made no secret of his desire to wear the blue and red shirt and has already activated new avenues to make it happen. And although Barça have not made a decision, in the offices they are already talking about his name again.

Barcelona want to sign Marcus Rashford on an initial loan with an option to buy from Manchester United!

According to Diario Sport, Rashford was very close to joining Barça on loan in January. He offered himself directly to the Barça board, but the sporting directors prioritised other issues such as renewals. For that reason, the forward ended up joining Aston Villa, where he has shown a remarkable level. Since then, he has not stopped insisting, and has even turned to Pini Zahavi, a key figure in the club’s previous moves, to force a viable exit from Manchester. United, however, do not want another loan move; their intention is to complete a sale for around €40 million. And while Aston Villa would be willing to pay that amount, Rashford would prefer to wait for Barça. The report claims that Barcelona want to sign Marcus Rashford on an initial loan with an option to buy from Manchester United!

This move, if it is completed, would be a turning point for both the player and Manchester United. In the case of the English club, it would be a way of putting an end to a chapter that has become uncomfortable. Rashford does not get on with manager Ruben Amorim, his performances have been inconsistent and his wages are too much of a burden. Releasing him from that contract would open up financial leeway for new additions, as well as settling an internal dispute. At the same time, loaning or selling him to a club like Barça, albeit for less than expected, would prevent his arrival at a direct Premier League rival.

More Manchester United News:

From the player’s point of view, Barça represent more than just an exit. For Rashford, the possibility of playing at Camp Nou carries enormous symbolic and professional weight. Being part of Hansi Flick’s new project, alongside players with young talent and ambition, could mean a relaunch in his career. He is willing to reduce his salary, something he is not contemplating with any other club. That shows the extent to which Rashford wants this transfer to happen. And although Barça have not made a move, the player’s insistence may end up tipping the balance.

The other interesting angle is provided by the Catalan club’s own economic structure. The signing is complicated not by a lack of will, but by a lack of money. If Rashford agrees to reduce his salary to affordable figures and Manchester allows flexible conditions, the option will grow in strength. But in the meantime, Barça are looking at other alternatives. So, although the interest is there, the operation still depends on many factors. What is clear is that Rashford has done everything in his power to approach. And if the summer leaves room, the Camp Nou could end up being his destination.
