Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski highlighted his various idols and the best players in the world earlier today.

Speaking in an interview with German media outlet SportBild earlier today, the 32-year-old Polish forward first discussed his idols growing up.

I remember when I was six years old there was only one idol for me: Roberto Baggio. Later Alessandro Del Piero became my role model, I admired him a lot. However, I could not yet judge exactly what characterised his style of play, I was too young.

Later I was impressed by the Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. His movements, his deep shots, the goals and the victories, these were the qualities I wanted to have. I wanted to imitate him in everything.

Lewandowski then spoke about the current best players in the world.

You can’t single out just one player, because it’s the players who shape the various eras. In the last 10-15 years there has been Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho. Before them there was Ronaldo.

There are always extraordinary talents, who transmit the joy of football. Champions make even the most difficult things easy and simple.
