Roma striker Andrea Belotti moved last season from Torino to the Italian capital in the hopes of setting a new journey in stone, but things have not gone the 29-year-old striker’s way so far. José Mourinho used Belotti more often than not, and despite 46 appearances, he could manage to net just 4 goals in total across all competitions.

Belotti spoke to the press (via VoceGiallorossa) following Roma’s 4-2 preseason win over Farense, in which the forward netted a first-half goal.

“It was a turbulent season. It doesn’t look like it from the outside, but it’s not easy to play in certain conditions (due to his injuries). I can grit my teeth and go beyond myself, but when you know you’re not 100% it’s normal to struggle more, but I’m convinced that all the injuries from last year are behind us and that it will be a better season.”

Roma have been linked to buying a striker, with Alejo Veliz, Wout Weghorst, and Marko Arnautovic in the fray, but Belotti is least bothered.

“They don’t bother me, because I know the season is long, the club and the coach will be evaluating if there is a need for a striker. The season is long, you also need to catch your breath, all the teams do this. I just have to think about feeling good physically, feeling good with the team and doing what I’m able to do.”

Belotti was out due to back-to-back injuries in 2022/23, which involved leg injuries, thigh problems, a broken wrist, and a fractured rib.
