Sheffield United disclosed on February 2nd that Malian midfielder Ismaila Coulibaly will embark on a loan stint with Swedish outfit AIK Fotboll until the summer.

AIK kicked off the new season with a 3-1 victory over Örebro Sportklubb last weekend, but the 23-year-old was notably absent from the squad.

As per Fotbollskanalen reports, the Sheffield United player has yet to make his way to Sweden. With the Swedish transfer window opening at the beginning of this month and closing on March 28th, AIK retain ample time to adjust their squad composition.

The AIK sporting director Thomas Berntsen revealed to Fotbollskanalen: “He will land tomorrow [Monday]. It has been solved with visas. He’s been training with Sheffield United until now so we expect him to be in good shape. We look forward to him being with us in training from Tuesday.”

Coulibaly has only made one appearance this season, which occurred during the Blades’ EFL Cup loss to Lincoln City last August. Opting for a temporary transfer will afford him the chance to play more consistently in the upcoming months.

The 23-year-old will hope to make a huge impact over in Sweden in order to try and salvage some momentum in his career. Since the end of his two-year loan spell in Belgium with Beerschot, the midfielder has made only seven appearances for the Blades in all competitions in the last two seasons.
