Athletico Paranaense had reportedly promised to sell Bento to Inter Milan last summer, but the Nerazzurri must be quick about it.

The Nerazzurri tried to acquire the Brazilian a year ago when they had to revamp their whole goalkeeping department.

The 24-year-old was in favor of the move to Italy, but his club blocked his path.

But according to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, Paranaense’s sporting director Alexandre Mattos promised to sell the goalkeeper to Inter the following year (2024).

Back then, Inter turned their attention to other targets. They eventually signed Yann Sommer as their main custodian with Emil Audero arriving as his understudy.

However, the latter is unlikely to remain on a permanent basis, as most accounts tip him to return to Sampdoria.

Therefore, Inter have revived their interest in Bento in recent weeks, hoping to cash in on Paranaense’s promise.

As the source tells it, the Brazilians have already signed Leo Linck, a young goalkeeper who will presumably be Bento’s heir at the club.

Hence, the stars could be lining up for the Brazil international’s arrival at Appiano Gentile.

Nevertheless, the Italian champions must act swiftly and decisively, as the competition for Bento is increasing.

The custodian made his international debut last month, managing to impress against England in Wembley. He also started between the sticks for the Selecao against Spain three days later.

The Brazilian has reportedly attracted interest from England and Spain in the process. Therefore, Inter will be looking to close the deal as soon as possible to ward off all competition.

This season, Bento has made 19 appearances in all competitions. He managed to record 11 clean sheets, while only conceding nine goals.
