One would think that Sergio Busquets would be the last person to have a go at Achraf Hakimi for his penalty miss against South Africa at AFCON. The defender let his side down as he missed the crucial penalty against South Africa in the Round of 16. This was not the case a few years back, in Qatar when Hakimi’s penalty sent Spain back home. Busquets showed that there was no love lost between them as he posted a video of a penguin waddling and falling into the ice referring to Hakimi’s celebration.

Busquets’ story was a sly dig aimed at Hakimi, who hit the ‘Penguin’ celebration against Spain after knocking them out in the Round of 16 of the World Cup. Shortly afterward, Busquets announced his retirement from International football. His story, which many claim was deleted shortly afterward, shows a penguin falling into the water.

Hakimi and Morocco crashed out of AFCON on Tuesday. Shortly after his penalty miss, South Africa doubled their lead through a sublime free-kick to send Morocco packing. Twitter was set on ‘fire’ in 2022 as Spain were surprisingly eliminated by Hakimi and Co.

Yesterday’s loss against South Africa proves that life does in fact, catch up to you. While being underdogs themselves in 2022, tournament favorites Morocco were eliminated by South Africa, who in turn, are the underdogs at AFCON.

Twitter has its take on the Sergio Busquets – Achraf Hakimi ‘beef’

Sergio Busquets may have just made the most iconic Instagram story in his 3 years of owning a social media account. The midfielder, who seldom expresses himself on social media, did not let the opportunity pass when Hakimi slipped up against South Africa. A fan opined that Busquets thoroughly ‘cooked’ Hakimi here. However, some weren’t as supportive of his reaction.

A fan said that Busquets is still pained and has nightmares of Hakimi’s penalty, hence the reaction. Another had a hilarious take, as he pointed out the age difference between the two. He called Busquets a 65-year-old and said that he is ‘beefing’ with a 20-year-old Hakimi. Some asked why Busquets had to be so ‘petty’ years after the Spain vs Morocco game.

Due to their elimination of both Spain and Portugal at the World Cup, many fans still garner a dislike against them. A fan said that everyone hates Morocco, despite their glorious underdog story. Some supporters labeled it as ‘high-level trolling’ and taking saltiness to the next level. Busquets is currently in pre-season at Inter Miami. Following Morocco’s elimination, Hakimi will soon return to the PSG camp.
