Cameron Archer has shown glimpses of what he can do in the Premier League, but he needs to show consistency in his game. The 21-year-old made a permanent transfer to Bramall Lane during the summer, with Sheffield United paying a fee of £18.5 million. It’s worth noting that Aston Villa retains a buy-back clause as part of the deal.

With Oli McBurnie’s injury, Archer has been given the responsibility of leading the line for Sheffield United. In his nine appearances so far, he has scored two goals for the team, which includes the opening goal in their 2-1 victory over Wolves.

The young English striker has demonstrated his finishing ability with two excellent goals, however, outside of that he hasn’t pulled up many trees. On the other hand, his performances could be due to confidence issues with United losing on a consistent basis before last Saturday’s win.

Manager Paul Heckingbottom praised his young forward in a recent interview:

“Cameron’s been leading the line now after not having a big pre-season, very very well. I’ve been really pleased with how he’s approached what we’re asking him to do.”

Archer should take a ton of confidence into this Sunday’s match against Brighton after his sublime goal at Bramall Lane. He’ll also take encouragement in the Seagulls conceding at least once in 14 of their 15 competitive games this season.
