Celtic are reportedly considering Charlie Mulgrew and Jonny Hayes for the role of U18s coach. The vacancy at the club cropped up after Stuart McLaren left the club and it appears that the Scottish Champions are considering two former Celts.

According to Record Sport, Hayes and Mulgrew are being considered for the role within the Celtic Academy. Mulgrew hung up his boots at the beginning of the season and would be the obvious choice as he continues to work towards getting established as a coach.

Hayes, meanwhile, is still on the books at Pittodrie as a player but has been working away as an Academy coach.

Brendan Rodgers rates both highly – allowing Mulgrew to train at the club after his contract expired and inviting him to Lennoxtown to watch training while the Irishman signed his compatriot Hayes from Aberdeen in 2017.

Darren O’Dea has already been confirmed as Professional Players Pathways Manager as the club continues restructuring behind the scenes.

Celtic are working away at redeveloping and restructuring the scouting operations at the club but the manager will want to know that there are people in the club that he trusts and believe in his footballing philosophy.
