Chelsea have recently been linked to Lyon forward Bradley Barcola. The 20-year-old Frenchman had seven goals with the senior side last season and currently represents the French U21 team. The Blues received a boost when Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that the Ligue 1 side had signed a likely replacement for their locally-born academy product.

Lyon Signing Gives Chelsea Bradley Barcola Opening

Who Lyon Signed

Les Gones, for their part, have signed Ghanaian forward Ernest Nuamah. The coveted Nordsjælland player is a goal scorer who brings much skill to the French outfit. Including add-ons, over £25 million was spent on the teenager, who had previously been tracked by Tottenham and Burnley, among other top European clubs.

Romano further reported that Nuamah had completed his medical tests as a Lyon player. It is a record signing for the French club, who are currently getting the forward on loan, but there is an additional obligation to buy. The move will have the teenager in Ligue 1 until 2028.

Chelsea Lead Race for Bradley Barcola

The West London club are not the only club chasing the young Frenchman. According to some London sources, Paris Saint-Germain are keeping an eye on Barcola, as the reigning French champions desire another attacking piece to add to their already formidable front line.

However, if the “rising star” Barcola is going to leave Lyon, it will most likely be to join the Blues. As per the transfer insider, Laurent Blanc’s side want a player plus cash deal for the 20-year-old and have notified the interested parties of the same.

Chelsea’s Busy Window to Keep Getting Better?

The Blues have already had a spectacular summer window that has seen them add the likes of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia. Following a disastrous campaign in last season’s Premier League, the London outfit have been spending big to ensure a solid performance in the English top flight, with hopes of returning to the European leagues.

A Barcola deal would further add goal-scoring depth to a team that has been in short supply of it. A draw against Liverpool and a loss to West Ham has shown that the players bought to build a good team need more time to build chemistry. The young Frenchman could soon join this team, and help provide a winning spark.
