Chelsea are the only club with a concrete interest in appointing Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi next summer.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that despite the rumours surrounding the 47-year-old, it is only the Blues who see him as a serious target.

Earlier today, a report emerged that Inzaghi is a target for a number of big clubs in Europe, and particularly in the Premier League.

Chelsea as well as Manchester United were the two clubs named as wanting for the former Lazio coach.

However, the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona also came up. Both will certainly be on the hunt for a new coach ahead of next season.

And Inzaghi is certainly a logical candidate for a number of top clubs.

The 47-year-old has been doing outstanding work at Inter since taking over from Antonio Conte.

This season, Inzaghi’s Inter have been in dominant form in Serie A. Moreover, the Nerazzurri are on track to reach the Champions League quarterfinal, having gone all the way to the final last campaign.

Chelsea The Only Club With Concrete Interest In Simone Inzaghi

According to FCIN, however, for the most part this is all nothing more than rumours.

But in the case of Chelsea, the outlet reports, there is real interest in moving for Inzaghi.

The Blues are increasingly looking likely to part ways with former Tottenham Hotspur, Paris Saint-Germain, and Southampton coach Mauricio Pochettino at the end of the season.

And if the Argentine is to leave Stamford Bridge, then finding a replacement will be a big task.

FCIN report that Inzaghi is indeed on Chelsea’s list of names to potentially replace Pochettino.

However, the Inter coach is far from the only coach that the Blues are monitoring. Nor is he their target.

Meanwhile, FCIN report, Inzaghi is hardly in any hurry to leave Inter.

The 47-year-old has settled in and found a comfortable position at the Nerazzurri. The success of his project at the club is not something he would be keen to abandon at this stage.

At the moment, Inzaghi’s contract with Inter runs out at the end of June 2025.

But the Nerazzurri are ready to begin talks regarding a new deal for the coach.

Inter will contact Inzaghi’s agent Tulio Tinti at some stage. They are well aware of the need to tie the coach down on a new deal to ward off interest from Chelsea or any other club.

And there is no doubt that Inzaghi, who currently earns €5.5 million net per season plus add-ons, is due for a significant pay raise.
