What a great opportunity tonight will be for Conor Gallagher, with N’Golo Kante out injured and Mateo Kovacic on the be… oh hold on, Gallagher is injured already.

The midfielder was in the perfect place to shine tonight, but instead has been forced off after just ten minutes. Kovacic is on to replace him – so much for a rest for the Croatian.

It’s not clear exactly what happened, but if it wasn’t serious, he would still be on.

Let’s hope it’s just a minor injury or a precaution. There are so many games to play in the weeks to come, and the squad is already depleted. The last thing we need is another central midfield option ruled out, with Kante hurt and RLC covering for the injured Reece James at right back.

There’s also World Cup prospects for players to worry about now, with the big tournament just weeks away.
