After a disappointing campaign last season, Tottenham are on the march to secure a European spot in the Premier League. Currently fifth in the table, they completed a strong first half of their 2023/24 campaign, and look to improve on that mark by adding players in the January transfer window.

Timo Werner Flying to London As Tottenham Loan Nears Completion

Documents are Ready

According to Fabrizio Romano, the “documents are ready” to complete a move for Timo Werner. The RB Leipzig striker, who boasts a career tally of 151 goals, will join the North London club on a six-month loan with a buy option. The Lilywhites will cover the player’s wages. The 27-year-old has previously played in the Premier League during a two-year stint with fellow London club Chelsea.

Romano also reports that Werner’s buyout option would be between £14 and £15 million. It is an option rather than an obligation so a decision on a full-time move will come later. A known goal-scorer, the German’s abilities could help his new team secure a coveted top-four finish.

Local News about Werner Loan Deal

Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg also reported on Werner’s expected arrival in England. The Geman noted that a “Medical is expected to be finalized on Tuesday.” After bursting onto the scene with Leipzig, the 27-year-old’s form has taken a dip, but a move to Spurs could revitalize him and help Postecoglou’s side return to the Champions League.

Plettenberg also mentioned a report from former footballer Mario Gomez that “Tottenham has assured Werner regular playing time.” Described as “A Number 9 That Has It All,” the former Chelsea man returns to London looking to capitalize on another opportunity to showcase his skills in the world’s biggest league.
