Gossip columnist Fabrizio Corona will be sued by Lazio defender Nicolò Casale, Roma teammates Stephan El Shaarawy and Nicola Zalewski for accusing them of illegal gambling.

Corona and his website Dillingernews broke the news that Juventus midfielder Nicolò Fagioli was under investigation for betting, but he had at the time already handed himself in to the authorities.

When Corona broke with news of Sandro Tonali and Nicolò Zaniolo investigations in October 2023, they were again already being looked at by the FIGC.

Every other name that Corona reported on after that had no real substance and were not investigated, so they are now suing him for defamation.

They include Roma teammates El Shaarawy and Zalewski, plus Lazio centre-back Casale.

The tribunal has set a preliminary date for a hearing on November 8.

Corona was only recently found guilty of defamation towards former Inter players Mauro Icardi and Marcelo Brozovic, as well as Icardi’s wife Wanda Nara.
