Everton travel to West London to face Chelsea on Monday, April 15 at Stamford Bridge, a venue that has been tough for the Toffees, with their only Premier League win at the stadium coming in 1994. Last Word on Football brings you our Everton predicted lineup for the match that kicks off at 8 pm.

Everton Predicted Lineup For Premier League Clash

How Everton Have Lined Up Recently

Captain Seamus Coleman returned to the starting lineup at right back. The other wingback was Vitaliy Mykolenko. Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski remained in the centre of defence, the duo starting in 28 Premier League games together. In the net was Jordan Pickford, the former Sunderland goalkeeper starting every league match this season.

Andre Gomes earned his second start of the campaign in the centre of midfield alongside James Garner. Dwight McNeil provided the width on the left while veteran Ashley Young started on the right side.

Up front Dominic Calvert-Lewin kept his starting position, now scoring in two consecutive games after not finding the back of the net in the previous 18 matches. Behind DCL was Abdoulaye Doucoure, the Malian international playing a second striker role.

Everton Recent Form and Tactics

The Toffees got their first win of 2024 last time out, with a 1-0 over Burnley. Calvert-Lewin pressing Arijanet Muric saw the ball deflect off the striker for his fifth goal in the Premier League. The win kept them two points clear of the relegation zone with seven games remaining.

Manager Sean Dyche’s preferred formation is a 4-2-3-1, this often changes to a 4-4-2 when pressing and in defence. A shift that is crucial to the game plan as the Toffees only average 40% possession.

The Everton press will be a key feature of the match, they are third for tackles in the forward third. Coming up against a Chelsea side that is second for touches inside their defensive third. Expect Doucoure and Calvert-Lewin to be pushed higher up the field to create opportunities from turnovers.

Everton Injuries To Consider

In this week’s press conference, Dyche outlined the fitness of the players in the squad. Amadou Onana returned to training after a minor injury and could be available for selection. Garner and Calvert-Lewin both had minor injury issues in training but are expected to be fit for Monday’s game.

Arnaut Danjuma got minutes in the U21s as he looks to be available after an injury that has kept him out since January. Idrissa Gueye missed the last match due to personal reasons but is back with the squad and available against Chelsea.
