Former England attacker Theo Walcott admits he almost joined Liverpool in 2014.

Walcott, who retired this summer, says talks were held when he was considering his future with Arsenal.

He told Sky Sports: "Yeah, I remember talking to Liverpool.

"I am a Liverpool fan. Or was, I'm more an Arsenal fan technically, and I'm pushing my kids towards Arsenal.

"But yes, Liverpool. Many, many years ago, probably back in what - 2014? That sort of time.

"Yeah, kinda close," Walcott added. "It was very interesting but it felt not quite right for me at the time. But yeah, it was fairly close and no one would have known about it."
