Goalkeeper Yann Sommer and midfielder Davide Frattesi have been named as Inter Milan’s standout performers against Frosinone.

The pair each receive 7.5/10 scores in the player ratings for the match in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. That is the highest score along with coach Simone Inzaghi.

Inter got back to winning ways following last weekend’s surprise loss to Sassuolo. And they did so in some style.

The Nerazzurri put five past relegation-battling Frosinone. And they racked up yet another clean sheet.

And yet as strange as it sounds for a match with such an emphatic scoreline, the result could have been very different.

In the first half in particular, the run of play was quite even.

Inter and Frosinone both had a few good chances. The home side hit the woodwork on a couple of occasions, and when they didn’t Inter needed to rely on their goalkeeper.

And veteran former Bayern Munich and Borussia Monchengladbach stalwart Sommer proved to be up to the task.

The 35-year-old Swiss international produced a string of excellent saves to keep Inter’s clean sheet intact.

Sommer & Frattesi Shine In Inter Serie A Hammering Of Frosinone

So in the view of the Gazzetta, Sommer was actually one of the main standouts for Inter.

The other, the newspaper argue, was midfielder Frattesi.

The 24-year-old looked hungry and sharp all match long.

In the first half, as the match got stretched at times, Frattesi really took advantage of the spaces that appeared in midfield.

The Italian international, was constantly showing for the ball, trying to make things happen. It was a match that really suited his direct, proactive style of play.

Frattesi did well to score Inter’s opening goal and really tilt the match in the Nerazzurri’s favour.

The 24-year-old also had a fairly good chance to score a second, which he missed. But Frattesi’s positive display and goal had already been decisive.
