Ex-Juventus defender Mark Iuliano confirms Antonio Conte has met Aurelio De Laurentiis, but doesn’t know if the Partenopei will hire the Italian tactician in 2024-25.
Conte is currently without a club but is expected to return to the dugout next summer, with many clubs reportedly interested in securing his services, including Milan and Napoli.
The Partenopei held talks with the ex-Inter and Juventus coach in November, before hiring Walter Mazzarri.
Iuliano, a former Conte teammate at Juventus, confirmed the meeting between his “friend” and ADL during an interview with Radio Punto Nuovo on Friday.
“Antonio and I often joke, but we rarely talk about the future,” said the ex-Italian defender, as quoted by Calciomercato.com.
“He met De Laurentiis over the last few months. Perhaps they’ll talk again if he [Conte] left the door open to hope, but honestly, I don’t know more.”
Iuliano’s ex-club Juventus are going through a tough time having collected just two points in the last four Serie A games.
They were title contenders only a couple of weeks ago, but they are now nine points below table leaders Inter who also have a game in hand.
“Perhaps, the draw against Empoli affected Juventus more than the defeat to Inter,” noted Iuliano.
“The Nerazzurri deserved to win in Milan, and they deserve to be at the top of the table because they truly are a strong team. The performance against Verona was really ugly and they were lucky to equalise with Rabiot.”
Juventus’ next Serie A game is against Frosinone at the Allianz Stadium on February 25.
