There are serious fears that Bologna and Netherlands striker Joshua Zirkzee could be forced to miss out on the upcoming European Championship through injury.

The 22-year-old Dutchman has been one of the stars of the show in Thiago Motta’s high flying Rossoblu squad this season, playing a crucial role in their historic charge to the Champions League, netting 11 goals and providing five assists across 34 league matches.

Bologna secured their Champions League spot with their win over Napoli on Sunday evening, but it was only an evening of half-celebration for Zirkzee, who was forced off the pitch in the 73rd minute with a muscle injury, which left him tearful as he limped off.

Zirkzee fears

TMW highlights how Zirkzee seemingly suffered a painful injury to his left hamstring, an issue that could keep him sidelined for around four weeks, which would force him to miss out on the Netherlands’ upcoming European Championship campaign.

It would come as a bitter blow for the 22-year-old, who already suffered an injury with the same muscle back in March.
