Former Manchester United teammate could be following Cristiano Ronaldo off of team

The impact of Cristiano Ronaldo's exit from Manchester United appears to be having a ripple effect, with rumors swirling that Diogo Dalot could be the next big player to leave Old Trafford.

Ronaldo's fellow countryman is coming off of an impressive showing at the World Cup, which has prompted the Red Devils to want to extend his contract after this year.

But, according to Yahoo! Sports UK,  Dolat has grabbed the attention of La Liga titan Barcelona, and interest in bringing the 23-year-old Barca is growing.

Soccer-centric site Sport Witness reported that Dolat's decision to leave could be influenced by Ronaldo's exit. Dolat was allegedly Ronaldo's "main ally" at Old Trafford and the striker's big exit from the team could influence the young right-back to want a "change of scenery."

Sport Witness also points out, however, that a move like this likely wouldn't occur until the summer when the main European soccer seasons are over. So if Dolat really does want to leave Manchester United, it won't be during the upcoming transfer window. But that is still only speculation.

Dolat tallied one assist through three matches at the 2022 World Cup. He has one assist in Premier League play this season.
