The contract of Leonardo Spinazzola runs out at the end of the season, and with the outcome of the negotiation to prolong it up in the air, Roma might seize the final chance to cash in on him a little in January. A couple of Saudi clubs and Galatasaray have shown interest in the wingback, Corriere dello Sport informs.

The Giallorossi haven’t received a concrete offer at this stage, but they would contemplate it if they got one. Considering his usual role, the fact that he hasn’t logged any minutes in the past two matches has raised suspicions.

Roma could sell Spinazzola and part ways with Renato Sanches to raise funds to sign a center-back, their main priority. Their top target is Arthur Theate. However, they’ll have to convince Rennes with a decent bid.

The Belgian international has past Serie A experience considering his time at Bologna and can play either in the middle or on the left.

Our Take on Roma and Spinazzola

It’s odd that he has been unused as of late, as they might be giving Nicola Zalewski a test run to see whether he holds up as the sole pure option in that role. The real advantage for them would be to sell without needing a replacement. Since Stephan El Shaarawy can play there, and Sardar Azmoun and Andrea Belotti have been fine as deputy attackers, they might be able to do that.
