Glennon Doyle: Cheering for wife Abby Wambach in NYC Marathon 'one of the best days of my life'

Glennon Doyle is a bestselling author, acclaimed podcast host and passionate activist, but she has her sights set on a new career.

Doyle stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show and explained that cheering on her wife, Abby Wambach, during the New York City Marathon earlier this month unlocked something inside her.

"She ran it in three hours and 40 minutes, I think," Doyle said. "It's fast. But I cheered for five hours. So, I feel good about myself, too. She was absolutely amazing. She ran with two of her former teammates from the [U.S. women's] national team, and they were back together. It was a beautiful thing."

The Untamed author continued: "It was one of the best days of my life. I mean, everybody on Earth should go watch a marathon and watch these people commit to this unbelievable—I mean, every age, people in wheelchairs, people on their feet, people crying, people cheering. ... I think that in my retirement, I want to be a professional marathon cheerleader and just travel around and cheer for marathoners."

Wambach is the all-time leading goal scorer for the U.S. Women's National Team. She netted 184 goals, which is actually the highest mark for any man or woman to have played soccer for the country, before retiring in late 2016. The 41-year-old ran the marathon with fellow USWNT alumni Lauren Holiday and Leslie Osborne.

Doyle previously expressed her sentiments from The Ellen Show on Instagram:

Doyle and Wambach have been married since May 2017.
