The summer transfer window wouldn’t be on the horizon if there’s wasn’t speculation over the future of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. The 25-year-old has been regularly linked with a move away over the last couple of years, and 2024 is no different, with rumoured interest from Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Zubimendi has shown no signs of pushing to leave La Real, and his manager Imanol Algaucil has now commented on the speculation. He told the media on Saturday (via Marca) that he expects to have him in his squad for next season.

“There have been rumours not only from Barcelona, but from many other big teams, because he is a great player and he is doing phenomenally, also this year with the Champions League showcase.

“It’s been a lot of weeks in which there is a lot of talk about Zubimendi, and the fact is that it is good for the club and for the boy. However, I have no doubt that he wants to be here and surely next year he will be here with us.”

Real Sociedad are certainly relaxed about Zubimendi’s situation, and with good reason. It would be a genuine surprise if he left, even if his release clause was triggered by any of the clubs interested in his signature.
