Lazio captain Ciro Immobile addressed the club's community at last night's 50-year celebations of their 1974 Scudetto triumph.

Lazio's players attended the function having beaten Empoli earlier in the day.

Immobile said: "Thank you for putting me close to Giorgio (Chinaglia). It's nice for a footballer to be remembered like this, remaining in the hearts of the fans must be the basis for every footballer.

"Then there are the individual and team trophies, I see these emotions in the eyes of the former players. Today we gave 100% with today's victory we were able to best celebrate an extraordinary team like the '74 team.

"The Lazio team loves me and I love the Lazio people. I really understood how much the people loved Chinaglia and this team when I arrived close to his record, especially the older fans. When I talk about what I did at Lazio, I get emotional.

"The older fans were torn, because they were happy for me but sorry because I beat Giorgio's record."
