Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar doesn’t hide the fact that defeat in the Champions League final Man City is a sad note on which to leave the Nerazzurri.
Speaking in a press conference while with the Slovakian national team, as reported by FCInterNews, the 28-year-old also admitted that he was far from fit when he made an appearance against Porto.
Skriniar is, for all intents and purposes, no longer an Inter player.
The ex-Sampdoria man may be under contract with the Nerazzurri for a few more weeks technically. However, he will not play for the team that he’s spend the past six years with again.
Rather, Skriniar will leave to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer next season.
The Slovakian has decided to reject Inter’s offer of a new deal to accept a contract offer from the Parisians.
Skriniar had an opportunity to bow out on a very high note, as the Nerazzurri were in the Champions League final.
However, the team lost out in the final, losing 1-0 to Manchester City at the final hurdle.

“It was a sad way to say goodbye,” Skriniar said of Inter losing in the final. “It’s a loss that will stay with us for a long time.”
“We were close to winning the trophy, we put in an excellent performance and we deserved more.”
“I’m proud of what we did during the match,” he added.
Skriniar also looked back on his second half substitute appearance against Porto, noting that it was not without its cost for him.
“In the second leg against Porto, I virtually played the final minutes on one leg, it was impossible to do more.”
“I would have risked a more serious injury,” he noted.
“It’s been a long time, I’ve never been out for so long.”
“I can say that now I’m doing better,” Skriniar added. “I had a break, but the surgery got me back on my feet.”
“The only thing I regret is that I didn’t decide to have it earlier.
The 28-year-old noted that “I was operated on in Bordeaux, and as soon as I woke up I felt that my leg was tingling. I couldn’t feel the thigh muscle hurting.”
“I felt great after my operation,” said Skriniar.
“Five weeks later I was already back in training. The French doctors did a great job.”
