Inter Milan continue to track Boca Juniors defender Nicolas Valentini as a summer move to Europe is looming on the horizon.

The 23-year-old centre-back is a youth product of the Buenos Aires side. He has been a member of the senior squad since January 2023.

However, the Argentine’s contract with the club will expire at the end of the year. The player has no plans to sign a renewal.

This contract standoff meant that Boca decided to drop the young defender from their most recent matchday squad. Yesterday, Valentini watched his teammates beat Godoy Cruz from the stands, with Edinson Cavani scoring the winner.

So according to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, all signs suggest the player will leave the Argentine giant club in the summer to pursue a playing career in Europe.

Moreover, the Roman newspaper claims Inter are still monitoring the situation closely.

Nevertheless, Torino’s Alessandro Buongiorno remains the main option for the Nerazzurri at the back.

But while the Granata are reportedly seeking 40 million euros to part ways with the Italy international, Valentini should be more affordable. After all, his contract will expire in December.

Therefore, Boca Juniors will either agree to sell the player on a cut price in the summer, or lose his services for free a few months later.

This season, Valentini has made nine appearances for the club across all competitions. He scored a single goal in the domestic league.

The left-footed defender recently received a call-up to the senior Argentine national team. However, he has yet to make to international debut for the World Champions. Lionel Scaloni opted to keep him on the bench in last month’s friendly against Costa Rica.

Valentini also has an Italian passport, which would facilitate his move to European football.
