Former Inter striker Diego Milito feels that the team got a great result by beating Porto in the first leg of their Champions League round of sixteen tie yesterday evening.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Amazon Prime after the match, via FCInterNews, the Argentine also noted that striker Romelu Lukaku had admitted to him that dealing with the injuries he has this season has been a real struggle.

Inter still have a long way to go in their round of sixteen tie against Porto.

The Portuguese champions will do everything they can to make the Nerazzurri’s life difficult in three weeks’ time at the Estadio do Dragao, and the Nerazzurri have only the slenderest of advantages to protect.

However, a slight advantage is still an advantage, and Milito is very happy to have seen his team get that much out of a difficult match yesterday evening.

“It’s a fabulous result,” the former striker.

“I think they can do even better in Porto, with more space to attack they can really do damage,” he continued.

“It was a tough match, and it’s always important to win the first leg.”

Milito also noted that “I was very happy with Lukaku, he told me how much he suffered with his injuries, and so it was great to see him score an important first goal.”
