Inter Milan have met with the agent of Fiorentina striker Christian Kouame about a possible free transfer next summer.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are thinking about laying the groundwork to agree a contract with the Ivorian, whose current contract with La Viola runs out at the end of next June.

At the moment, Kouame has just over half a year left on his deal with Fiorentina.

And as of yet, the Tuscans have not reached an agreement to extend the striker’s deal.

There have not been any serious talks towards that end. Therefore, there is a real chance that Kouame could be on his way next summer when his contract expires.

And according to FCIN, Inter have shown a real interest in signing the Ivorian next summer.

Inter Meet With Agent Of Fiorentina Striker Christian Kouame

According to FCIN, Italian football agent Michelangelo Minieri was recently at the Inter headquarters.

There, the agent discussed the situations of a number of his clients.

The Inter directors sounded out possible transfer opportunities with Minieri.

And FCIN report that one name in particular came up as a serious possibility during the talks – that of striker Kouame.

There are a couple of reasons why Inter have an interest in signing the 25-year-old, who has also played for the likes of Genoa and Anderlecht.

One of the main ones would be the striker’s versatility.

Kouame is capable of adapting to a number of positions across the forward line.

Therefore, the Ivorian could slot in as depth in a number of roles in Inter’s squad.

Moreover, Kouame has spent time in Inter’s academy. This would mean that he would be considered a Nerazzurri youth academy product.

And then there is the obvious factor of the finances involved in a deal.

Kouame would not cost a transfer fee. And in terms of wages, he would not represent a major outlay.

Therefore, Inter could make a move for the Fiorentina striker next summer to add depth at low cost.

According to FCIN, the Nerazzurri are already laying the groundwork for negotiations.

Clubs cannot begin negotiating with players regarding prospective free transfers until the start of January. However, on January 1 Inter could formally negotiate with Kouame and his representatives.

Inter are starting to sound out the possibility.

But the biggest obstacle to signing Kouame could be if Fiorentina were to ramp up contract extension talks with the 25-year-old.

Kouame has been a regular starter for La Viola this season. Therefore, there is a very real chance that the Tuscans could push to keep him on next summer.
