Inter Milan Unlikely To Sign Italy Striker From Napoli – All-In On Genoa Breakout Star

Inter Milan are unlikely to sign striker Giacomo Raspadori from Napoli, and will instead move for Genoa’s Albert Gumundsson.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper note that the Nerazzurri’s relationship with Napoli is currently quite strained.

Inter look set to make a big attacking signing this summer.

In addition to bringing in Mehdi Taremi on a free transfer from Porto, the Nerazzurri are also keen to invest in one more player to complete their attack.

The profile that Inter are seeking is a versatile attacker with good technical quality and dribbling ability.

And there look to have been two names to have emerged at the top of the Nerazzurri’s list in this respect.

But according to the Gazzetta, there is one player who looks far more likely to arrive at Inter, for a couple of reasons.

Napoli striker Raspadori is one player who Inter have considered as a target.

The Nerazzurri had already eyed up the Italian international in the past, prior to his move to Napoli from Sassuolo.

And Raspadori would have more or less the profile that Inter are seeking.

But signing the Italian international from Napoli would not be easy by any means.

Inter would have to convince the Partenopei on a deal, which would not be easy at the best of times.

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis tends to be resistant to selling players to rivals within Serie A.

And that is before factoring a couple of recent incidents which have made relations between Inter and Napoli difficult.

One concerns the expected move of midfielder Piotr Zielinski to Inter this season.

The Pole has decided not to extend his contract with Napoli, and will instead join Inter on a free transfer.

This has naturally irritated the Partenopei and De Laurentiis.

Then, there is the recent row involving Inter’s Francesco Acerbi and Napoli’s Juan Jesus.

The Partenopei player alleged that his Nerazzurri opposite number had used a racial slur towards him.

However, an investigation found Acerbi not guilty of using racially discriminatory language.

In spite of that verdict, however. Jesus continues to insist that Acerbi had indeed racially abused him.

And Napoli have given their full backing to the Brazilian.

Therefore, this is hardly the kind of atmosphere that would be conducive to negotiations for a transfer of a player like Raspadori.
