After a shocking result at Sassuolo last weekend, Inter returned to the win column in scintillating fashion against relegation-threatened Frosinone. Simone Inzaghi’s side halted the Canaries’ five-game unbeaten run in Serie A with a thumping 5-0 victory at Stadio Benito Stirpe.

Inter relinquished their hope of hitting a 100-point landmark with a 1-0 defeat at Sassuolo. However, the newly-crowned champions refused to allow that letdown to derail their morale as they maintained their 100% win ratio against Frosinone with an outrageous second-half performance.

Davide Frattesi broked the deadlock in the 19th minute to give Inter a halftime lead, even though Nerazzurri failed to shine in the first half. Everything clicked for the visitors when Marko Arnautovic made it 2-0 at the hour mark, forcing Eusebio Di Francesco’s team to go all-out-attack in search of an unlikely draw.

Frosinone’s set-up fell apart down the final stretch. Tajon Buchanan extended Inter’s lead to three goals in the 77th minute. Only three minutes later, Lautaro Martinez struck home off the bench for a quadruple before Marcus Thuram put the final nail in the Canaries’ coffin for his 13th league goal of the season.

Let’s look at our Inter ratings.

Inter (3-5-2)

Yann Sommer – (7.5)

Regained his place between the sticks and came up huge for another clean sheet with a scintillating performance, denying Frosinone a goal despite the home side’s 1.4 xG.

Yann Bisseck – 6.5

Although his physical attributes had a telling impact on some occasions, the young center-back had lapses of concentration and often struggled to cope with Walid Cheddira.

Stefan de Vrij – 6.5

Like Bisseck, the Dutchman had problems against Cheddira, especially in the first half, but he grew into the contest as the game progressed.

Carlos Augusto – 7

Deployed as a center-back, the Monza loanee excelled in his defensive duties and did equally well when asked to build the play from the back.

Federico Dimarco – 7

Even though he didn’t add to his assist tally, the attacking-minded full-back enjoyed a phenomenal game, offering depth and quality on the left-hand side.

Nicolo Barella – 7.5

After a frustrating cameo appearance at Sassuolo, the Italian midfielder returned to his usual best, bossing the midfield with his trademark dynamism and energy.

Kristjan Asllani – 6.5

Though improved after a disappointing showing at the Mapei Stadium, the ex-Empoli man couldn’t come anywhere near Hakan Calhanoglu’s high standards.

Davide Frattesi – 8

In addition to opening the scoring with a resourceful finish, he chipped in with a crucial assist for Arnautovic to kill the game off after an hour.

Matteo Darmian – 6

Whether it was an injury or a tactical choice, he remained in the changing room at halftime following a bleak first-half display.

Marko Arnautovic – 7

Despite committing several unexpected sloppy passes and poor decisions in the first half, his goal inspired Inter to three points when the match could’ve gone a different way.

Marcus Thuram – 7

Following a near-anonymous first-half performance, the Frenchman burst into life after the break and claimed a late goal as a fitting reward for his second-half renaissance.

Substitutes

Juan Cuadrado – 6.5

Davy Klassen – 6

Lautaro Martinez – 8

Tajon Buchanan – 7.5

Stefano Sensi – 7
