Inter Milan defenders Alessandro Bastoni and Stefan de Vrij will resume training today while targeting a return against Cagliari.

The duo missed Monday’s dramatic outing against Udinese at the Blue Energy Stadium due to injury. The Nerazzurri completed a last-gap come-from-behind win to put themselves on the edge of winning the Scudetto title.

Yesterday, Simone Inzaghi’s men had a day off, but will resume training on Wednesday afternoon.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, De Vrij and Bastoni will be present at the training session.

The club will be monitoring the two players’ conditions, but the pink newspaper expects them to fully recover ahead of the weekend.

Therefore, the Italy and Netherlands stars could be in contention for starting spots against Cagliari this Sunday.

Bastoni suffered a slight muscle injury last week, while de Vrij had picked up a knock while on international duty.

On another note, the source tips Yann Bisseck to replace the suspended Benjamin Pavard against the Isolani.

The Frenchman earned his fifth booking of the season against Udinese, so he’ll be serving a one-match ban.

This season, Bisseck has been acting as Pavard’s backup on the right side of the three-man defense. Therefore, the source expects the German to get the nod this weekend.

The 23-year-old has thus far made 23 appearances across all competitions in his maiden season in Italian football. He contributed with a couple of goals and an assist.

Moreover, club captain Lautaro Martinez will also skip the contest against Cagliari with a suspension.

It remains to be seen who will get the nod upfront alongside Marcus Thuram , with Alexis Sanchez and Marko Arnautovic being the natural candidates.
