Jesse Lingard is set to stand trial after allegedly giving cops a fake name and address after being caught speeding.

The Nottingham Forest forward failed to give police the correct information after being stopped in his range rover and now may have to stand trial.

His lawyer reportedly pleaded not guilty, according to The Sun.

The prosecutor for the Greater Manchester Police, Mike Arden said they “wrote to Mr Lingard at his then home address in Altrincham” with a notice of intended prosecution and requested the name of the driver.

A nomination was then said to be made online by  “by someone appearing to be Mr Lingard”.

It claimed that the driver was a man named Geroge Bolt who resided at a different address but when they tried to contact him they received no response.

“That’s not a surprise because he doesn’t exist. We’re quite certain about that.” Mr. Arden said.

“We’re not even sure the address exists, we think it is a car park.

“Therefore the nomination of Mr Bolt was inaccurate and misleading and prevents police getting to the bottom of who was driving the Range Rover.”
