Juventus stepped up their efforts to acquire Michele Di Gregorio this week. Cristiano Giuntoli had dinner with Monza exec Adriano Galliani to start bargaining. He has long been on their radar to succeed Wojciech Szczesny, TuttoSport informs.

The Brianzoli value their star €20M but could accept players in return. They could plug the prospective hole between their sticks with Mattia Perin. The current Bianconeri deputy wouldn’t mind the opportunity to resume being a starter.

Juventus aim to sign Di Gregorio in the summer and have him as their no.2 for a year. They haven’t managed to come to terms with Szczesny. They plotted to slash his wages and postpone the expiration date to 2026. The Pole has declined. If his stance doesn’t change, it will accelerate their plans. Personal terms wouldn’t be an issue for the Monza shot-stopper. He’d earn €2M through 2029.

There’s also a chance the deal expands to Andrea Colpani and further Bianconeri players. The Brianzoli had shown major interest in Fabio Miretti and Moise Kean in recent windows.

Our Take on Juventus and Di Gregorio

He’s extremely solid but not necessarily a can’t-miss prospect since he’s 26, unless the conditions are favorable, which might turn out to be the case. They can technically wait a year if no team comes forward for Szczesny. The biggest hurdle might be to convince him to be the deputy while in his prime, but there might not be many illustrious openings in the role in Serie A.
