Juventus extend Gianluigi Buffon, Giorgio Chiellini

A pair of Juventus legends dedicated their futures to the Italian giants on Monday.

Via an official club statement, Juventus announced that goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and defender and captain Giorgio Chiellini will remain with the club through the 2020-21 campaign.

"Bianconeri since the beginning. Bianconeri forever," the club declared. "And to confirm it, in case there is a need, today their contract renewals have become official, for another: 2021!"

Buffon, who turned 42 years old last January, is widely viewed as the greatest goalkeeper in history, and he's made over 500 appearances with the club that he briefly left to feature for Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain for the 2018-19 season.

He now sits behind first-choice goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Chiellini turns 36 in August and missed six months of the season after he underwent surgery to repair the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee in September. He also captains the Italian National Team.

Juve hold a four-point lead over Lazio atop the league table after 28 matchdays.
