Juventus confirm Wojciech Szczesny underwent surgery after suffering a fractured nose in the Derby della Mole and his condition will be ‘assessed daily.’

The Poland international suffered a nose injury in the second half of Juventus’ 0-0 draw against Torino and underwent surgery on Saturday night, the Old Lady said in an official statement.

Doctor Libero Tubino performed the surgery at the Chivasso hospital in the presence of Juventus doctor Marco Freschi.

Szczesny spent the night at the hospital and will be discharged in the coming hours, Juventus said.

The Poland international will be assessed daily ahead of the next Serie A game against Cagliari on Friday, April 19.

Szczesny, a former Roma and Arsenal goalkeeper, has kept 14 clean sheets in 30 games across all competitions this season and conceded 23 goals.

The Bianconeri’s second-choice keeper, Mattia Perin, has conceded twice in five appearances, keeping three clean sheets.

Juventus have six Serie A games remaining: against Cagliari, Milan, Roma, Salernitana, Bologna and Monza plus the second leg of the Coppa Italia semis against Lazio.
