L.A. Galaxy targeting Barcelona star

The LA Galaxy are on the precipice of acquiring Borussia Dortmund legend Marco Reus, but the California club might add another European star to the squad.

According to AS USA, LA's next target will be FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski. AS USA states that Barcelona would be looking to offload the striker at a discount in order to get his wage off the books of the La Liga club.

Lewandowski is coming off another impressive season with Barcelona. In 35 La Liga matches played, the striker tallied 19 goals and eight assists. Lewandowski also recorded three goals and an assist in nine UEFA Champions League matches.

While AS USA is reporting a potential move, there are some barriers that could make it difficult for Lewandowski to come stateside. First, the Galaxy already have three designated players. If they hadn't, they would have been able to pay as much as they would like to acquire the striker. Without a DP slot open, the Galaxy will need to fit Lewandowski into Major League Soccer roster rules and regulations. This would likely involve the use of Targeted Allocation Money (TAM).

If Lewandowski was to come to MLS he would be a major acquisition. Even at 35 years old, the striker is still able to score in one of the best leagues in the world. It is hard to imagine the Polish striker struggling in MLS. That is especially the case with Lewandowski potentially combining with the likes of Gabriel Pec, Joseph Paintsil, and Reus.

So the Galaxy should use all the glitz and glamour at their disposal to try and acquire Lewandowski. He would be a gamechanger in MLS and potentially fuel L.A. to win its sixth MLS Cup.
